Giorgos Tsiakiris
Tsiakiris Silkmaking began in the late 1800s as a cottage industry, when the family’s great-grandmother raised silkworms, then wove the silk on handlooms and then sold it to support her family.
In 1954, the Georgiou Tsiakiris workshop was established for the first time, by the two brothers, Evangelos and Ioannis Tsiakiris. This business started with two handlooms. Later, some motorized ones were added and slowly the production process started to be modernized.

In 1981, Metaxourgia Tsiakiri SA was founded, which remains under the same name until today. Metaxourgia Tsiakiri SA is the most complete, vertically integrated unit that currently exists in Greece and has passed into the hands of the fourth generation in a row.
Mr. Giorgos Tsiakiris tells us that:
“We have carried out the experimental breeding of the silkworm, mainly to find out which varieties are the most suitable and the most productive. The part we mainly specialize in is after breeding, spinning, weaving and fabric processing.
“The timelessness of the business is due to the product itself. Silk is considered one of the most valuable materials, for this reason it does not lose its value over the years. Its price is constantly rising, making it the first in preference, as are high-value products»
